Torturing, cruelty, terrifying bulls in the name of religious customs is bad and so it is bad for other animals too.
Massive protests are being held across Tamilnadu and around. Not only Tamil Hindus are protesting but massive support is found among other sects also. Big film artists and stars have also come forward and joined the protests.
The present impasse is the result of failure of politicians to act timely as for them politics was more important than caring for people's sentiments and reforming the evil practices.
The animal activists are also found lacking in their sincerity & honesty in dealing with other ills like cow slaughter and sacrificing goats on the occasion of festivals like Bakri Eid. They remain conveniently silent on such occasions which show their hypocrisy & double standards. Many politicians also play their usual politics.
The societal norms & customs (सामाजिक मान्यताए और प्रथाए ...in Hindi) do change with the passage of time and must change for betterment. The practice of terrifying bulls during Jallikattu should also change which the Tamil people are willing to accept too. However, banning it altogether is not the solution as the sentiments of millions & millions people are attached to the 2000 years old custom. The ban is also seen as assault on Hindu traditions by pseudo secularists and animal activists.
Only solution lies in allowing the practice with certain regulations which is a win win situation for everybody else it may take a different turn.
