Congress Raj -Rajiv Gandhi legacy:

The Shah Bano case : : A poor 62 year old Muslim woman went to the court seeking Rs. 200/month as maintenance from her husband, for supporting her 5 children after the lawyer husband deserted her, uttering tripple talaq.  Both the High Court and Supreme Court had ruled in the woman's favor.

It was a win for Shah Bano but Rajiv Gandhi turned it into a defeat. The then  Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi  overruled courts with a new legislation & took away the basic rights of Muslim women in India to appease conservative clergy. 

It was sheer vote bank politics & appeasement by the Congress government headed by Rajiv Gandhi.

Still the Congress claims to be the greatest secular party!

NDA Raj::

Narendra Modi is the first Prime Minister of India to talk about the sufferings of Muslim  women in his address to the nation on the last independence day and at other forums too. He opposed the inhuman practice of triple talaq and committed to empower Muslim women. The government has also submitted it's legal views to the supreme court in proper perspectives to stop the evil practice. In the historic judgement, yesterday, the Supreme Court struck down the triple talaq terming it “unconstitutional" and asked the government of India to frame laws.

The same greated secular Congress party and it's supporters call Modi a communal leader.

Now people have to decide.....

Another evil, the practice of Halala should also go. Many people may not be clear about Halala. As per Wikipedia, Halala is an Islamic marriage practiced primarily by certain sects of Sunni Muslims, which involves a female divorcee marrying someone else, consummating the marriage and then getting a divorce in order to make it allowable to remarry her previous husband.

It is barbaric, discriminatory and inhuman to the lady going through Halala? This lady can be anybody's daughter, mother or sister and  above all she is a human being and not a commodity. Why the practice of Halala should not be stopped immediatly through? And simultaneously, the dreaded evil of  polygamy should also go.

Cruelty and discrimination against any person based on religion, caste, nationality, race, or sex is the greatest sin and crime against humanity. No God can permit it and no person has a right to abuse the universal law of equality.

The ultimate solution to these abuses lies in the adoption of  uniform civil code in the country.
