When Aam Aadmi becomes Khaas Aadmi

When Aam Aadmi becomes Khaas Aadmi
- When a Common Man becomes an Important Man:

In February, 2015, the people of Delhi had placed an absolute trust on the new commer, Arvind Kejriwal in politics voting him to power with the overwhelming majority of 67 MLAs in a 70 member assembly. He scaled the ladder to power using Anna Hazare movement for Lokpal Bill  projected to control the cancerous growth of corruption in the country. All political parties had challenged Anna Hazare and Kejriwal that the bills cannot be passed on the street and if they want to frame the laws, they should join politics and enter parliament. Arvind Kejriwal accepted the challenge and formed the political outfit “Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)” with a promise to offer an alternate politics and corruption free governance. After building the party and asking general public to donate for election funding, listing the donors list on the website, he rose to challenge the mighty Sheila Dixit in Delhi Assembly Elections. He also levelled serious charges of corruption on Sheila Dixit and promised to put her in jail. While Kejriwal promised for a clean alternative to politics he appeared sincere and honest and gained Delhi people's trust.

The AAP  team was expected to remains sincere, honest and patriotic in its efforts, come what may, but alas, it failed the same people of Delhi who brought Kejriwal to power. At the victory of AAP in Delhi, I predicted that if it remain sincere & honest it will be remembered in Indian political history as game changer and if they fall prey to greedy politics, the same Indian history will remember them as traitors who deceived people’s faith to be only fit for  cosigning it to dirty water of Yamuna River sooner or later.

Unfortunately, the later prediction appears to be  coming  true. Right from day one, Kejriwal adopted a  philosophy to bame PM, Modi for everything on earth and goes on a mission of self glorification,  spending huge public money in wasteful advertisements all over the country (even CAG report found it in violation of powers). He has suppressed sane voices within the party and  thrown out his  senior founder colleagues from the party. His many MLAs were found dishonest and indulging in corrupt practices, He adopted  policy of minority appeasement, dividing society, siding with corrupt politicians,  supporting sloganeering by anti national forces at JNU and other places, asked proof of surgical strike across LOC by Indian armed forces, politicises soldiers' death,  opposed tooth & nail the demonetization drive of government etc. etc. He resorted to his original style of agitational and disruptive politics of lowest level, even using abusive language against PM of the country. The donors list and expenditure details have disappeared from AAP's website, Sheila Dixit is a free citizen and AAP joins hands with corrupt politicians, ministers use official cars, bungalows and finally Aam Aadmi becomes Khaas Aadmi - a Common Man becomes Important Man.

All Delh people are aware that Kejriwal's  dream of offering  a  honest politics was short lived. Due to internal power struggles, theatrics and gimmickry of AAP, the people of Delhi are already a disillusioned lot and  realized its hypocrisy. Kejriwal used to say when he entered the politics that they have joined the politics to the change the way the politics is done but the narration has gone haywire  and they themselves have got changed to play same old dirty politics.   The changing colour of Kejriwal phenomenon also appears to have impacted the greatest damage to cause of honest politics as people in future will be afraid of giving opportunities to new comers, howsoever it may be sincere and honest.

This point is well proven in recent state assembly electipns. AAP has  fought vigorously in the state of Punjab & Goa. True to AAP's own style of projecting itself  bigger than it's size, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal was confident of his party sweeping to power in Goa and Punjab. He tweeted shortly before the  polling began; "Goa and Punjab will create history today."   In contrast to it's claims, it ended up with only 20 seats in Punjab  against a claim of atleast 100 seats during its high voltage campaigning.  AAP's star campaigner in Punjab, MP, Bhagwant Mann too has lost by 18,500 votes to Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal. In Goa also AAP activists had hoped to capture power. However it's  vigorous campaign failed to convince a large number of voters as it got only a dismal 6.3 percent of the popular vote across the state — less than a fifth of what the BJP got. More surprising, the Aam Aadmi Party did not win a single seat in the 40-member Goa legislature. Although  the AAP convenor, Arvind Kejriwal campaigned heavily in Goa,  38 of its candidates  lost their security deposit out of 39 seats they contested.

Now after this monumental debacle  both in Punjab & Goa, Arvind Kejriwal has to put his habitual blame for the failure on somebody. He cannot blame PM, Modi for this, so what next; he blames on tampering of EVMs and is now demanding the ballot paper voting for forthcoming MCD elections in Delhi. Ironically, he never demanded paper ballot in Delhi assembly election after winning 67 seats out of 70. But unfortunately, he is always right in his own style! How we can blame a habitual hypocrite who changes colour more than the chameleon? The forthcoming Delhi MCD election in April, 2017 is going to add another flop show to the credit of  AAP style of politics.
